As You Like It

Touchstone will always hold a special place in my heart as the first Shakespearean character I got to perform in a full play. The clownish fool danced around the stage, swung a shepherd's crook at an unsuspecting William, and once fell right off the stage in what was definitely a planned moment of physical comedy. Like all my comic relief characters, I built up his inner life, his loves, his hates, the mask he wears. But when it comes down to it, Touchstone is just wit, words, and improvised weapons.
